Privacy Policy

ShaadiSeason (“we”, “us”) is a wedding planning tool built for Indian families. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how it's handled, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). By using ShaadiSeason you agree to this policy.

What we collect

  • Account data — your email address, and a password if you choose password sign-in (stored as a salted hash by our authentication provider, never in plain text; we never see it).
  • Plan data — your wedding details, budget, timeline tasks, and event dates, so your plan can be saved and resumed.
  • Guest & shagun entries — guest names, RSVP status, and gift/shagun amounts you choose to record in your private ledger.
  • Vendor enquiries — the details (event date, guest count, phone number) you share when you contact a vendor, so the enquiry can be pre-filled on WhatsApp.
  • Basic usage data — device and browser type, and pages visited, used only to keep the product working and secure.

Our promise on your ledger data

Your guest list and shagun (gift) ledger are the most personal numbers in this app, and we treat them that way:

  • We never share or sell your guest or shagun data to any third party, vendor, or advertiser — for any reason.
  • We never aggregate it for analytics. It doesn't feed benchmarks, averages, or any product metric — it exists only inside your own plan.
  • It is visible only to you and, if you've added them, collaborators you've explicitly invited to your wedding plan.

Backups & storage

Your data is stored with our database provider in the Mumbai (ap-south-1) region and backed up on an encrypted, weekly schedule so a device loss or accidental deletion never means losing your plan. Backups are retained only as long as needed for disaster recovery and are deleted on the same rolling schedule.

Vendor photos & consent

Vendor profile and gallery photos are collected during an in-person verification visit by our team, with the vendor's explicit consent recorded before any photo is published. Vendors may request removal of their photos or profile at any time by contacting us; we do not publish guest faces or private event photos without separate, specific consent from the people shown.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account and associated plan data. Deleting your account removes your guest and shagun ledger permanently, subject to the encrypted-backup retention window described above. To exercise these rights, use the delete/export options in Settings, or contact us directly.

Third parties we rely on

We use a database/authentication provider to store your account and plan data, and a transactional email provider to send sign-in links and lead alerts to vendors. Neither is permitted to use your data for their own marketing. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on ShaadiSeason.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, where the change is significant, notify signed-in users by email.
